Here's a little idea that will make your skin crawl with horror, or delight. What would you think if they put a gift shop in for the haunted mansion? And not Leota's cart or le Bat en Rouge, which are rather separate, but an actual, honest-to-goodness, gotta go through to exit the ride, gift shop. Feel free to react how you see fit.

However, I think it goes against Walt's wishes. I don't remember where I heard/read it, but Walt was against that kind of "Forced" buying technique. Eisner was all for it, which is why the Magic Kingdoms became more of a Disney store than a theme park.

You really can't walk 20 feet without running into another gift stand or shop, which has the same stuff that every other one has. POTC is probably the most unique, as they target the pirate theme.

There are sadly very few unique shopping experiences left at Disney, but the few that exist are really fun. Imagine if the gift shop woudl continue the story, almost like a post-show. But if they fill it with NBC stuff, I'm going to burn the...something big...to the ground...yeah.

That being said, I think it would work better at the WDW mansion than at DLR for aesthetic purposes and because of the higher amount of international tourism. I'm thinking kinda like the Tower of Terror Giftshops. Very cool!

Mansion I think is one of the very slim few that is an E-Ticket and doesn't end in a gift shop. Small world is another, but hey lets face it, they knew no one would stop there. More people run away screaming from there, than they do from the Haunted Mansion.

I still remember the boathouse at the entrence of the mansion being a giftshop. Perhaps they could empty out the fastpass queue now? Make a more profitable use of their land... Madam Leota's cart would fit somewhere in Fantasyland or keep selling NB4C junk.

I can't stand the blatant commercialism of that. I like the idea of foolish mortals getting the grand tour of our haunted abode and then going right back into the world from whence they came. The Bat en Rouge is all the gift shop I need.

The you would have a choice. That, I believe, should be one of the fundamental rules of gift shops:put you next to the exit, even if only technically. DINOSAUR would be nicer if they just used the gift shop near Dino-Rama. They could, too. Most people go out that way anyway, even if its not the only exit.

What about HM specific merchandise? if there are space constraints, the two worlds, can share the same shop, with emphasis upon the HM (non-nbc theming) I would like to see that.

I think there is enough room there to place a small gift shop. When I pictured it, I saw it right beside the exit, where the Yankee Trader is. Also, as far as themeing goes, what if it was not some other room of the mansion? What if it was a separate business capitalizing on teh weird things inside? A museum for all the curious who go by? Something along the lines of Professor Crump's Museum of the Weird? They could put the themed props along the top of the shelves and the merchandise in the middle, liek Le Bat en Rouge.

Would be acceptable if they made the exit go through, say, an undground crypt followed by exiting into "Servants Quarters". That i'd be find with. But just a gift shop..... No.
