Yes, information and pictures are out there. The make up for this movie is very close to the original Lon Cheny, and the house has a very creepy look to it
I'll check my sources and get back to you.

I believe at this years Comic-Con they showed the teaser trailer. I saw it online (very poor quality). It looks like a very dark and brutal reimagining of the
original. Im a huge wolfman fan and it looks like the movies in the right hands. If you search hard enough you might be able to find the trailer, but it'll
be hard...(thats what she said)

Finally.... I saw the trailer at horror nights. Apparently the guy that did the makeup says he was dissapointed about universal using cgi. The preview looked
pretty good though!

Yea i read about Rick Baker not being to happy with the whole CGI transformation scene. Baker has done so many amazing practical effects and make up over the
years (Men In Black, The Haunted Mansion, How the Grinch Stole Christmas just to name a few) But since we're talking about the Wolfman, i think it would be
pretty hard to top the transformation scene in American Werewolf in London, even though the movie is well over 20 yrs old, the whole scene is still fresh and
so real. CGI is a great tool for filmmakers to enhance a movie or scene but some directors take it too far and over use it, i hope this isnt the case with this
movie. But i do agree with you speedemon the preview does look pretty good

I'm so glad to hear some news about this! I heard about it years ago when there was a rumor he (or the whole film) would be CGI, which I admit I was a bit
disappointed by. I remember seeing a sculpted, small model of the proposed wolfman, but it was on some random website that I stumbled upon several years ago.
Chances are, what they've settled on now is far different from the model I saw.
I'm disappointed with the transformation being CGI, too. Especially since Rick Baker is doing the makeup. And Hook's right. NOTHING has topped the American Werewolf in London scene...and Baker was behind that! Why not trust him to come up with a practical effect that's just as good or even better? I just hope it won't be really shiny and rubbery looking like CGI has a tendency to be when it's not used very well. A good mix of practical and CGI can produce fantastic results, and I hope it leans more in that direction, rather than just CGI. Thanks for the info, speedemon! The Wolf Man and werewolves in general have always been my favorite supernatual beasties. And a nice, dark, good werewolf film will help me purge the memories of the sheer awfulness that was Blood and Chocolate. |
