Makes Me Laugh Passionate NBC Fans At Disneyland |
Lead | |
|
Why are NBC Fans So Passionate at the haunted Mansion, It Seems That I always seem to go to disneyland when The Haunted Mansion Is In NBC Mode, like the Last
Two Times, in December and October, But I always seem to get in line Behind a Couple Of Fans and They always are Discussing the Movie and the ride, and How
that all the New Fans of the Movie are just ruining the Movie and that the new Fans Don't Get The idea of what That Tim Burton was trying to Do, and that
they were true Fans Of the Movie since it came out, Now I don't Mind that Because, all the better for the Movie and the ride, But What made me Laugh was
when the Ride Was over, I asked the Group How Old They were and when i calculated them Up, Half of them Were 2 Years or Younger when the Movie Came Out, and
the Other Half were Not even Born Yet, While I was 15 at the Time, It Just makes me laugh.

Oh, those whippersnappers, indeed! Too funny!
I have never experienced the holiday overlay. Though I like the movie, I wonder if the Mansion is the place for those characters. ![]() ![]()

What is especially interesting, is when you mention a film, and someone stares at you like you have macaroni growing out of
your ears, because even though it is a very well known movie, a classic, for example, the person, just does not recognize the title, much less having seen the
film, ever. I figure that person must not be as interested as I am in films, or they only watch other kinds of films, from myself, or I really do just have
macaroni growing out of my ears! (not)
Frankly, I hate having to think in terms of holy crap! I am as old as x film, and this person, was not even born yet! that is when I personally feel old! |

Almost forgot to add, that I agree with your sentiments, MyPetBats, with exception of the film, for I have not seen it, in its entirety.
Cal, that is so funny, as it is true as well! |

I was only around two years old when the film came out. But my lovely mother loves the movie and so i practacaly grew up watching it.
But i did not really appreciate it until i was older |

Thank you,
I had forgotten to add, that when it comes to famous movies, unless one has been in a coma for as as long as that movie has been out, or has been living as a hermit in a cave somewhere, you would think that one would at least recognize the title, especially after you begin to describe it in detail. For example, the film "Some Like it Hot" Starring Marilyn Monroe, was released well before I was, as it were, I have seen the movie and know the title. So I really don't care if someone was not even born at the time, for as long as something still exists, if it has a certain societal importance, or pertaining to world history, one should know certain things. While I am on the subject of what annoys me, I can't stand it when so called professional people, state the word anyway, anyways! that is incorrect! it is archaic, obsolete as well as redundant, damn dolts!! and this professional amateur knows the difference! Stinking typos!

How do you feel about "irregardless"?

Although that word does exist, and is mainly used in speech, it is not a generally accepted word, which is why I don't use it, but rather will use
regardless, instead. I don't personally really have a big problem with it.
I see regardless as a pretty cool word, for it dates back to 1591 with its function as an adjective. To where as with irregardless its circa is 1912, so as not nearly as old, this words etymology is believed to be a combination of irrespective and regardless. I do personally prefer regardless, so again, that is why I choose to use it, instead of the other term. |

somebody mention NBC as being a glorified teen cult; Once I found myself talking to one of those types of kids and I (being a very big fan of the film, not a
cult member) asked her, "What's your favorite song from the movie?" She looked at me confused and said, "Song?" I almost lost it, it
was clear that she had never actually seen the film and just liked to dress in NBC decorated clothing to fit in with her cronies. Boy that grinds my gears.

Aw, geeze....
"I was two when the film was released..." "My Mom loves the film, so I grew up with it..." Is there an AARP section here at Doombuggies, where dedicated -- if geriatric -- fans of NBC (we're the wrinkled, gray-haired ones singing along with the "Scarols" in the queue waiting for our crack at the Mansion) can raise a glass of Metamucil, in toast to Tim's best film (and its perfect seasonal residency in the "boundless realms of the supernatural" waiting just outside the berm)? Please don't get me started on mispronunciations; I have both Andy Rooney's attitude AND his eyebrows. |

I liked NBC before it was a goth addiction. The imagery is fantastic, the songs are great, and the story is incredible. However, I really don't like bands
like Marilyn Manson, Rise Against, and Plain white Ts covering NBC stuff. The original music is the greatest.

I was eight when it came out. Saw it in theaters and have had a copy of it since it came out on VHS. Honestly, the thing thats been ruining NBC is hot topic.
It's the "in thing" to like it. I hate when I see people arguing over them not being "a true NBC fan". What? They dont have a tattoo
of Jack Skellington or the newest Sallly backpack? Who gives a darn. It bothers me that these annoying trendy, goth, and emo kids are "we rebel by not
rebelling" and act better then everybody. I don't hate anyone unless they spout hate or ignorance towards other people. I'm sorry, but i would
have probably pointed out how idiotic they sounded. "What tim burton was trying to do"? REALLY? He was making a beautifully done holiday-twist
film. End of story. It's viewable year round but great at Halloween and Christmas. *steps of soap box*

Personally, I'm not terribly offended at NBC becoming trendy.
Honestly, it beats out many of the other things that the young, foolish mortals could latch onto, glorify and obsess over. It's brilliant art with brillant songwriting and a lovely message...and it's not hurting anybody. When you hear the kids passionately voicing their opinions about it, it's because it means something to them...whatever that might be. And with all of the nasty things going on in the world right now, I think that says something. Besides, I'm willing to bet that at least a few of you have argued about things you didn't understand before. So have yourselves a chuckle and move on. |

Yeah, you're probably right but people should know about the movie if they wear its apparel.

What gets to me is that all these kids come dressed up in Hot Topic NBC crap and then they come into the mansion with this flummoxed look. The entire outside
mansion is decorated...why does it surprise you that the inside is also. I've had a couple guests come up to me and start telling me how the mansion ruined
NBC.
But I saw this one year old guest dressed as Zero and you stop caring. Cutest thing ever. |
