Imagine it was up to you to design a brand new ride for the disney parks. It could be based on anything you wanted, and be any design you wanted. Let's also say money and size would not be a problem. What would your dream ride be? I'm not sure what I would want the theme of mine to be, but I would definitly want part of my ride as a nice sit and ride through (like the mansion), but also parts of it to be a crazy, fast, roller coaster with loops. I guess I would want it to play out like Splash Mountain where its a fun calm scenery ride, then you have that crazy excitment part, and back to the calm again. Maybe I would choose it to be a Ratatouille ride. The calm parts could be a little bumpy as your "running" around (your car is Remy), then when you hit the problems it turns into a full on rollercoaster like the rock'n rollercoaster, then goes to a calm point again and so on. I just want an exciting ride.

I'll have to give this a date of late 70's exreme early 80's for obvious reasons as you'll read. It was going to be a journey through the entire human body. You would board a boat similar to the small world or pirate boats and go through a mouth door. The teeth opening and closing would separate the two boats. Fromthere it was a waterfall past the heart and lungs and down into the stomach. From there Barney (the Bacteria) would lead you through the canal with a lttle adventure until it all came to an... erm... an end. After passing out that door, you'd get off the boat, and go into some sort of health giftshop (because all rides must end in a gift shop) Imagine our suprise when we heard that "Body Wars" was coming to Epcot. We both looked at each other when we read whatever the info was. We howled over the fact that our idea was going to be used "We could have been rich..." :-P A few years later we did actually end up at Disney once again, and we did ride the Body Wars ride. To anyone who's ever been on it, you'll know we weren't even close, but it was still cool none the less to know that we had something that apparently was a good idea. (off topic: I guess that's why I loved Horizons so much. Since the theme of the whole ride was "If we can dream it, we can do it") I smiled as I got off the ride and walked back into the main part of the building. My mother had just mockingly grumbled, "I still think our ride was better" lol

It looks like the Mansion from the film in a swamp. It was the home of an adventurer and I used some concepts from the drawings in Jaso Surell's book like the fake bookcase and the hunter being chased by a tiger rug. I did add an armory with more knights like the film. Other than that, it will keep the basic storyline with Mme. Leota, hitchking ghosts and the other staples. So there's one idea, I didn't know if it was supposed to be orginal. An orginal idea I have would be a Cars 3-D film. the 20,000 Leagues coaster idea was good and the Body Wars thing was a cool story. Welll, I have written a lot so I'll stop.

The vehicles would be something like what's used in Dinosaur or Indiana Jones Adventure, a car that can react with the environment. It would be themed to some of the darker aspects of the Grimms brothers fairy tales. For example, you'd go through a forest and see an AA of little red riding hood, only to pass a snarling wolf hiding in the near bushes and it would lunge at your car. Unless the Disney versions of the princesses could be incorporated, I know it would never be built. And I want it NOT to be connected to the Disney retellings. While reading the "Inferno" segment of Dante's comedy last week, I was thinking how cool it would be if in the Italy pavilion there was a dark boat ride through his version of Hell. Again, something that would NEVER happen in a Disney park. (You'd have all those nekkid people, for starters.) I'd be thrilled if Disney made a villains themed dark ride. I've been waiting for that for a long time. I keep crossing my fingers that it'll happen.

It is similar to the Tortise and the Hare except whenever the rabbit turns a corner he sees the hedgehog ahead of him. The Hare runs faster and overtakes the HH, but when he turns the next corner the HH is once again ahead of him. Eventually the hare runs so fast he gives himself a heart attack just before the finnish line and dies. The HH wins and then has a big party with all his relatives (who look EXACTLY like him) and they all congratulate themselves over thwarting an obnoxious braggart. EDIT: I just reread most of Inferno and it has lots of Disney references. The main character thinks he's in "Infernoland" a futuristic sadistic theme park. I'll have to look that up. It'll go on my "To Read" list. That Brothers Grimm walk through attraction sounds awesome. So doesn't the Hell museum. I'll be Googling both. I keep thinking how eerie some of the images in a Grimms' fairy tales ride would be, particularly for stories like "The Pecan Tree," (I think it goes by a few other titles), "The Feather Bird," or "Godfather Death," (some of my favorites). Heck, they should make a "Night on Bald Mountain" ride. Funny you should mention that! I planned out a "Night on Bald Mountain" ride about a year ago. It wasn't anything high tech or special, and could have probably fit into Fantasyland. Essentially, it was an indoor, in the dark "Music Express." They're common in most amusement parks and carnivals. It's a train that goes in a circle fast while music plays and lights flash. Usually they go around a few times backwards. I had in mind one that was inside a replica of the mountain. It gets dark and the music starts. The faster and more intense the music is, the faster the cars go. Projections of the wraiths and demons would soar across the walls and that'd be some good old fashioned smog effects and colored lights. At the climax, the face of Chernabog would appear, either as a projection or AA figure. But then the music would slow as the spirits would go back to their graves. Lights and projections would show a sunrise as Ave Maria plays and Chernabog goes back into hiding. The ride ends...and you exit into a giftshop.

How about a black hole ride using the omnimovers? You get onboard your "skimmer" and start with approaching the black hole. Oh no! you're getting pulled in! rotate 180, lean backwards 45 sound the alarm, shoot the mists "we're losing oxygen" Then it all goes quiet seat returns to 0 pitch , "look theres a ship ahead" Lights turn on "and there must be someone aboard at some point your skimmer will act like the tram cars that zoomed along the track. From there you could watch the funeral procession, the crossfire fight, and the meteor shower. "Oh noes, this ship is going into the black hole too! Let's get out of here" Skimmer turns toward the probe ship escape hatch. Something else happens and everyone is safe. "Wow, what an adventure" Patron steps out of the skimmer onto the moving platform and walks into the giftshop. Anyone want to expand on this or fill in the holes?

Lots of great possibilities. A non-Disney property I would love to see made into a ride would be a "Sherlock Holmes" ride made as authentic as possible. Perhaps a rousing chase after Professor Moriarty? I think it would be especially cool if the first half was an interactive walk through where you try to solve the crime with Holmes and Watson, the second half a speed chase through Victorian London perhaps in a Hansom cab. I suppose if you were to "Disney-fy" it, you could use "The Great Mouse Detective" which could be very nifty in its own right, but I would far prefer something based on the original canon by Conan Doyle. The film was about a mouse counterpart to holmes, and had a first rate villian named Ratigan, played by the imortal Vincent Price. I would love to see a ride based on that film.

I guess you could say somehow he lived at the end sort of like Moriarty coming back, and possibly lift Vincent dialogue from his various movies to fit the scenes or find a very good impersonator.

I guess they would have to replace the stunt show to not double theme. Another idea is a roller coaster based on the speeders from return of the jedi would be cool...it could be a suspended coaster to get the feeling of skimming the terrain. Along the SW theme, they could change Star Tours to be something else. If they could figure out how to make it a new story and 3D, that would be unique.

I realize that these are classics, but they simply can't compete with the technology of rides today. So, why not improve them? Wouldn't it be amazing to see Snow White's Scary Adventure or Peter Pan's Flight with the sort of complexity, animatronics and special effects the Mansion offers for instance? The original Snow White ride didn't have her featured throughout it at all. The ride was meant to be the story told through her perspective, but guests wondered why Snow White herself wasn't included. And so, she was added to the attraction. Keeping with the Brothers Grimm idea, this ride could be made much more intense and follow Snow White's journey through the fairytale without actually showing Snow White at all.... just a thought. : )

My 3 yo grand daughter was on Peter Pan, and as you go out the window, she leaned over and looked down. Her eyes got really big, and she turned to my wife and says "Grandma! We're flying!" She got it. What I would rather see, is tearing out all the Poo(h), and putting the good rides back. And weren't you the Little Mermaid? The resemblance is amazing... except for the tail. But your picture is cropped

But your picture is cropped Yes, I like the old fantasyland rides the way they are as well because I have fond childhood memories of them. The younger generation that is growing up on the more sophisticated rides and visiting the park for the first time in recent years though often say that the older fantasyland rides are lame and seem cheaply made by comparison. It's really wonderful that you got to witness the magical moment of a child's innocent wonder on Peter Pan's Flight. That is very special to see. Thank you for the compliment. It's an honor to be compared to Ariel. I am an actor, singer, and dancer, and I was a character performer at WDW for the college program internship; but, I only did fur characters. I intend to go back to work for Disney again in about a year and audition to be a face character. I'm 5"4, so I can manage with Belle and Ariel height. While working in the park, I will go to all of the equity auditions held for the shows at WDW and hopefully advance to being able to use my musical theatre background. I did play the Disney Princesses for an entertainment company in Houston. They send impersonators to special events and parties, and they provide awesome costumes, wigs and props; they aren't quite Disney Quality but some are close. Every costume is handmade and not bought retail. Unfortunately, I can't work the princess gigs any longer because the company was sued by Disney and some other companies for copyright infringement recently. I completely understand why and had wondered how they were able to use the characters. My favorite character to play was probably Ariel because people recognized "Part of your World" when I sang it more than the other princess songs. Last Edited By: PrincessKelly 06/24/09 06:48:45. Some things should be enjoyed for what they are. Take "Dracula" with Bella Lugosi. Would the film really be enhanced if we were able to have Lugosi's Dracula or the brides glitter? I for one was really excited that they not only reopened Sleeping Beauty's castle, but they returned it to it's original state. Disneyland should have room for the new, and the old.
