Please Close the Doors!!! |
Lead | |
|
Something that really bugs me at the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland is that the Foyer Doors never close, it probably adds so much more atmosphere during the
day, and it's in the Standard Operating Procedures, so why do they not obey? At Disney World they close the Foyer doors. I know that there is a phone right
behind the right door, but still they need to add more atmosphere. If I am just talking a load of crud, can someone please let me know of their experience?
Thank You!

Of my visits to Disneyland, the only door that I ever recall seeing as being open, is the front door. Even then, after all of us little moo cows are herded
inside, then that door is closed, the way I am remembering it.

The whole thing about the doors being closed is in the OLD Operating Procedure manual and not what is used today. The only reason they shut the doors at the
WDW HM is because the person who opens them is also your stretch room cast member, whereas at DL, you have a foyer cast member, then 2 seperate stretch room
CMs.

The Last time I went to Disneyland's Haunted Mansion, I was among the last people allowed for that group, and they did close the doors. So it may be at the discretion of the Host at the time. |

I've only ever seen them close DL's foyer doors once, which was kind of disturbing because I never knew they did that. Either way you're stuck in a
room with a bunch of noisy people, so I don't think it really adds much to the atmosphere.

Well, Im glad they close the doors at WDW's mansion, or rather, make you wait right outside in aticipation with the doors closed..listening to the wolf
howling in the distance and watching Leota's tombstone stare at you. Great atmosphere!

They close the doors at Tokyo too! And the Maid who did it was really Cranky too!! It added to the atmosphere. I didn't like hearing "No photos!"
though. I just assumed they meant "No FLASH photos". It was also irksome because I was OUTSIDE at the time!!!!
To be completely off topic for a moment. Tokyo Disney has Banned Tripods and (I think) picnic blankets from the park. At least for the parades. So anyone going there might want to check the rules before you bring them! |

I wish Disneyland's HM would always close the doors as it does create more atmosphere and uneasiness among the crowd.

KK,
No blankets? WOW! Why is that? Does Tokyo like to have people getting the shivers? I am surprised by that. |

Hmm, weird... I recall them closing the doors all the time when I went to DL (or at least any time I happened to be paying attention). The Ghost Host
didn't start talking until after they did that. But that was back in 2006, so maybe its different now.
RE: Tokyo... It's the most visited theme park in the world... I suspect the rules against tripods and picnic blankets is so that those millions of people aren't tripping all over each other. I'll actually be at Disneysea (but no Disneyland, saddly) in November and I'm crossing my fingers that going mid-week will do something to thin the crowds out. I can't even imagine it on a full day. |

There's a phone in the foyer, but it's completely hidden from view and you'd never see it as a guest unless someone was using it when you came in. As far as atmosphere, you have low lighting provided by a flickering cobweb-covered chandelier, an eerily glowing fireplace, a portrait that rots before your eyes, a (hopefully creepy) servant, and a panel that opens by itself, to reveal a portrait gallery adorned with gargoyles holding candles. How much more atmosphere do you want? |

Re: Tokyo policies
You can use blankets to cover yourself (personal fleece blankets are all the rage right now), you just can't lay them on the ground to take up space. Space issues are the same reason for the tripods. Guests start to sit down and wait for the parade 2-3 HOURS before the parade. Is that normal in the US? What a waste of time! |

The Velvet Rope, my wording was wrong, I meant that the phone is behind the Disneyland foyer doors.
