I totally agree. Something like this needs to be shared! I'd be willing to buy a copy, digital or photocopied. I can understand if he charged, because it
is a lot of work to scan those pages, and some compensation should be provided.

True, but I believe it would be against the law to scan and sell those items, since they are considered Disney copyrighted...He is allowed to buy or sell the
original, but making copies is already treading dangerous waters. I wouldnt risk it, I would simply share and know that altho I paid a huge amount, I own an
original historical document.

I was the underbidder. Major bummer!
Yes, the material is copyright by Disney. In fact, considering that it gives breakdowns of the animatronic figures, it could be said to contain their intellectual property, and is thus covered in more areas than simply copyright. I'm surprised that Disney didn't stop the auction and prevent the sale--they have that right and have exercised it before. It was certainly a unique and wonderful piece that would have added greatly to The Genii's collection. |

I don't think Disney had any more problem with this manual being sold, then they would have with the sale of a cell from one of their animated films. The
Item was technically sold by Disney, when the piece of furniture where it was discovered was sold.. Now if one tried to reproduce either to make money, then I
could see Disney having a problem.

The interesting thing was, a few years ago, he bought the WDW version of the same book and it only went for 1,300. I'm wanting to wager that it was more on
the fanbase at the time as opposed to the popularity of the attraction at the time. Welp, at least he has both and Phantom Manor now.

He's not a big poster to the internet and my blog will only have posts in the archives. I guess only time will tell if any scans show up to the internet.

You have to bear in mind that collectors come in more than one psychological flavor. For some, the very fact that they have something that no one else has is
the biggest thrill in owning a piece, and they're positively averse to sharing it in any way. Not saying it's a nice mindset, but it's one
of the types that's out there.
