It's about the fairy tale characters we know and love (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty etc) whose Home Lands get invaded by an evil Adversary, a fellow fable, and starts to take them hostage or kill them. They find a gateway to our world and live amongst us. The book takes place in New York City. Karl, you said you read some, how do you like it?

I quite enjoy them. They are much better than Grimm Fairy Tails.(sic) Cannibal spiders creep and crawl Boys and ghouls having a ball Frankenstein, Dracula and even the Mummy Are sure to end up in someone's tummy

The art seems is OK but the stories seem to lack in the writing department. Fables though, man, it just keeps getting better and better. I just read issue 76 and man is this series getting good. Glad you are enjoying it.

They're both great! Possibly my favorite series right now. I look forward to them the same way I looked forward to Sandman or Books of Magic (original writer of the open-ended Series). I liked the new story in Fables, but I didn't like how Pinocchio was drawn. I think Fables is the stronger of the 2 series. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys well-written stories, fairy tales and comic books. Man, now I'm hungry for some Deviled eggs! Mark Buckingham should be back to pencils next issue or so. Fables is an amazing book, it's the one I look forward to every month.

I think if I had to cut down to just two titles I'd pick Fables/Jack of Fables and Hellboy.

It had something to do where there was a connection between our world, and the fairy tale world. In that presentation, the wolf ends up being heroic.

Been collecting the graphic novels since they first started coming out and now I need to start picking up the Jack ones as well. You can really see why Fables has won so many awards due to such a great story, amazing character developments as well as a wide variety of art styles. I have caught up to the latest novel, which is when the war finally ends, so I can't wait to see what happens in the next book since the story is going to go in a different direction I bet. Whats gonna be more interesting is the fact that ABC is going to be turning Fables into a TV show in the next few years. I wonder if they plan on going live action with the series or maybe animated. Either way, would be interesting to see. And the movie you are thinking of Haunted Hearse is The 10th Kingdom that Hallmark did back in 2000 that stared John Larroquette who played the father in a father/daughter team who get transported to a magical kingdom where all fairy tales live and end up having to help a prince become king and stop all the baddies from taking over. There are some pretty strong similarities between the two, especially with the characters of course, but Fables is far better of course.

I definitely need to look into it. I plan to do some posts later to discuss Fairy Tale Lore. I also highly recommend the Sondheim musical "Into the Woods" to anyone interested in combining the mythologies of different characters.
