LOL @Genii's comment...I dont think I could do that many! Actually, I am quite hesitant since I love and admire Jim Shore's work and own several of his
pieces, but I just couldnt help myself....Ive never seen Phineas showing teeth like that. It just looks strange. The other two, however, are right on and the
entire piece itself looks great, so we'll see...maybe when I have it in my posession, I wont want to alter it in any way.

How do we even know that Phineas has teeth?

I saw the Jim Shore and WDCC pieces at Off the Page in Calif Adventure and World of Disney. First I tried to buy them but they are not for sale. Then I asked
the salesperson why they don't release all 500 WDCC pieces at the event, he said it was to give WDCC collectors in Florida a chance at that piece. Then I
asked about the 200 pieces by Kevin and Jody and he said they would be released "at other Disney retail locations" after the event. Then it hit me.
By releasing the 200 WDCC pieces at WDW, that means more foot traffic into WDW. Cost of admission, parking, refreshments, other impulse purchases etc.
In other words, more money for Disney. As far as the Kevin and Jody pieces, how much more vague could it be? "Other Disney retail locations" would include Disneyland, Calif Adventure and Downtown Disney, anywhere inside WDW plus the Disney Stores. Do they want you to go hunting in all these places for these pieces? Yes, they do. If they were all released at the event, they're all gone. But by putting some of the items in "mystery" locations, they are creating more foot traffic than there would be otherwise. More foot traffic means more money. Is it fair to those who paid $85 to $400+ to go to the event? No, it isn't. But isn't part of the cost of the event for the opportunity to buy LE merchandise? Yes. Is Disney trying to make even more money by pulling some of that merchandise out of the event? Yes. Will they continue to do this with future events? Yes. Whatever it takes to rake in the most money. |

I was at DLR today and now the 2 pieces can also be seen at Disneyana on Main St. There is a new card on display next to them in the case that read something
like, "Will be available on Sept 14th at various art & collectible stores" after the event on the 9th. They also had some O-pin house postcards
on display on counters to take.

I went to DLR today and they now have 2 more new 40th HM items, a clear glass toothpick holder/shotglass with a green colored bottom and a black mug with
handle. Printed on each is the same 40th artwork as the child's t-shirt, magnet and keychain. These are only for sale at Port Royal in NOS. The toothpick
holder is $6.00 and the mug is $11.95. And Port Royal also has the neat 40th watch in the coffin for $125.00. Didn't see it anywhere else.
Edited twice for inclusion of glass prices & watch

I picked up the T-shirt with the poster art, the mug, and the keychain at Port Royale about ten days ago. Very nice. If you only saw the watch at Port Royale,
perhaps they're running low. It was also at the Fortuosity Shop, Off the Page, and World of Disney.
I saw the Jim Shore and WDCC pieces as well. They look much better in person than on the website. In fact, they look tempting. |

I picked up the watch and glasses while there and I definitely want the Jim Shore piece and Organist! Those are awesome!

Guy or Genii, can you post a picture of the watch, or guide me to where I can see one?

Groovy. Thank you, sir.

It's not the most attractive watch they've ever produced, however I think that for an edition limited to 250, in the nice coffin box, it's a good
buy at $125.

Could not get passed how bland the watch was.

Watches are an odd duck: if the art on the face is too intricate, it's almost impossible to see for many people over the age of 45.
If the art is too simplistic, then certain fans are turned off. It's a fine wire to walk. |

So, if I understand correctly, the Griffin Bookends will not be sold beyond the 40th event? That would be a shame, I am not a hardcore collector but I would
love to get the bookends.

That's what it says: no griffen bookends after the event. But it's a toothless statement. The edition is limited to 150 and will certainly sell out at
the event. At least a dozen will end up on eBay if not more, so you'll have a chance to get them. But they won't make it into the parks, unlike some of
the other merchandise--you'll have every chance you'll ever want to buy one of those $2000 chess sets. That edition is limited to 40 and they'll
never sell all of them.

I was interested at the initial price of $999, and even that was a stretch. Since they doubled the price to $2000, ha ha, forget it.
Smart asses. I wouldn't care if it was a LE 5 item, it's just not worth $2000. For that money a person could buy a whole lot of other items. |

I think the edition number makes all the difference in the world on a high-ticket item like the chess board.
