Hah. Brown Jenkin? Sadly, no. But I am a Lovecraft fan... as must be evident.

My Haunted Mansion dreams are weird. It's the Haunted Mansion, but it's not. It's almost always different in some way; usually scarier. I dunno -
it's hard to explain...
anybody know what I'm talking about? |

One of the reason's Radio Horror shows were so effective is what we can imagine to be scary, can be greater then anything that can be presented to us.

When I have a dream about the Mansion, it is sometimes a little spooky, but I haven't had any that were actually SCARY. Actually, I usually end up waking
up with that warm, fuzzy, "I-just-arrived-at-Disneyland-YAY!" feeling. Heh.

Nice.
I've only had one HM dream ever, and I'm not even sure it really qualifies since it was supposed to be the Mansion, but looked nothing like it inside or out. |

It always looks like the attraction on the outside but It is nothing like it on the inside. Example: the seance circle was a small room with stained glass windows with the sun beaming through them (very un-spooky). |

I'm not sure what Freud would say about this one, but I dream about the mansion all of the time. That's really why I found doombuggies.com in the first place I suppose and why I joined. I have a sort of morbid fascination with the ride. I am drawn to creepy films and frights, but am a big scaredy cat deep down. I know I shouldn't watch the stuff that disturbs me, but I just can't resist. Anyway, I haven't been to the mansion since the most recent updates, so I haven't seen the new bride... but the old one certainly gave me the creeps. I refused to ride on the right side of the doombuggy because I didn't want to pass too closely to her. From what I read, I'll have to start refusing to ride on the left side because she's moved. Anyway, the ride totally thrills me. It doesn't matter how many times I go on it; it still makes my heart race. I haven't been to WDW since I interned there in 2003, but the ride still haunts me, so to speak. My first mansion experience was when I was very little and at Disneyland (maybe 1990ish). I freaked waiting in line and changed my mind about being brave enough to go on the ride, but my grandmother carried me into the stretching room anyway and told me that the ghosts were silly and there was nothing to be afraid of. Yeah, happy ghosts my ass. I kept my eyes closed the whole time I was on the doombuggy essentially. Going on the ride with no previous knowledge of it with the chilly air and the shifting of the buggy and all of the audio, but eyes squeezed shut, is actually probably more frightening than watching to see what's coming, but whatever. I was definitely emotionally scarred, lol. So, anyway. I dream about Disney in general very frequently with two main motifs... getting into costume and performing in one of the shows or being involved with the mansion in some way. The mansion dreams vary a lot... sometimes I get stuck on the ride and it breaks. Other times I'm sort of imagineering and working to redesign the ride. So, sometimes I'm a cast member and sometimes a guest and the dreams range from scary nightmares to creative enjoyable experiences. Off topic, my most recent Disney fantasy dream was being cast in The Little Mermaid on Broadway, but somehow performing underwater. I love being a mermaid. : ) Thanks for listening and have a Disney Day! - Princess Kelly
