It was once a horse-drawn Hearse, but Luna was placed on a White Chassis in 1912, and has been a horseless model ever since.
When I located the old girl, her lights had been removed. I was able to locate some antique replacements.
A pair of oil lamps were traditionally placed on the hearse, and these lamps fit perfectly with the brackets
already on the hearse body. The two glass panels are concave and beveled, and metal plumes decorate the tops
These lights are similar to those that I've seen on the coach in an old photo. They also remind me of the headlights they used to have on the Mr. Toad cars in Fantasyland. The loop on the top allowed them to be carried, if one needed a lantern for a breakdown.
As a child I saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and loved the snake horn on that vehicle. There's also a elabrite snake horn on the Mayor's Hearse in Nightmare Before Chistmas. When I located this old brass horn, I knew which horn I wanted to use. I hope to have this coach back on the road for it's centenial of a motor hearse in 1912.
