Exactly Hearse. And Dan I suppose that might be a solution, but it also produces more problems. It would mean for one that Connie inherited the house (at least in the living world) after it was already haunted eliminating her as a participant in the prehaunting backstory. This in turn raises yet another issue between George's and Connie's eventual ownership of the Mansion and that storyline and that of the original premise of the ghostly retreat/ retirement home in search for one more. What, did the ghosts just allow mortals to "live" there in their retreat? Did the ghosts just decide out of nowhere one day to just form a otherwordly retreat in this place on their own despite its infestation of breathers? And if the GH is that hatchetman where does he fit into this? He speaks as if he was already dead by the time Connie showed up given his stretching room remarks. Still I cannot help but think that WDI will link him somehow to Connie as they both share the hatchet symbol. In addition Connie's last known kill was in 1877 and she looks fairly young in her portrait. Unless she is involved in a Dorian Gray number I'd take her to be 30, 35 tops in that much. Which means she had 23 short years before the end of the century to turn into the wrinkled old prune she is in the stretching room painting. I know the dark side can age a face but gee whiz to look like she's 80 when she is only 40 or 55 seems a little far fetched. And yes I know Davis intended her to be younger in his original rendition, but imagineering isn't utilizing that version now are they. There is also the problem that by 1877 the Mansion would be quite haunted and how anyone still living proposes to live among the dead with all that constant noise, frightening images and quarks of the haunting is beyond me. I know they hired Leota but that didn't quite turn out either and only compounds the question marks. You know maybe she only thought she owned the place but the deed went to one Master Gracey who is somehow either related or is a close friend to George. On second thought you know I think we all know these are excuses and rationalization. I know you agree with me on this Dan.These story plots and points do not work and having to extend one's cognitive powers and imagination to try to make them work is far beyond the capacity. The original imagineers gave us clues to a potential mystery within the Haunted Mansion but only clues. We do not need the next generation of imagineers to act as the detective and solve the case for us. Keeping it a mystery gets those guests who are paying attention a chance to solve it themselves. Not only that but the mystery element works, which is probably why current members of imagineering want to solve the mystery; we all do. Which makes it in truth by far much more interactive than anything current WDI has yet created for the Haunted Mansion.
