hmm....
Yeah I know imagineering determines the reality of their rides, as I said before they could turn the GH into a rodeo clown and so be it. But that does not mean I have to like it or agree with them. My sentiments are in line with what you posted on your blog earlier when you said, "Me, I dislike having a fairly full-blown story-line foisted on me, excluding me from the imaginative process and making me a spectator only.  That gets boring.  And that's without even considering how well the character fits into its context (meh) or how well the effect is executed (meh)." It is also for me quite frustrating, and hard to watch. While the assumptions may not be patently absurd, I can't shake the feeling, to quote Shakespeare, "that someting is rotten in the state of Denmark." Especially when considering some on the things that have come down the pike in recent years, changes to IASW, POTC, HM and so on. Moreover I know that the members of WDI are obviously fans too which to me only adds to my astonishment as to how they could do this and try to justify it. The string of so-called "enhancements," leads me to question their reasoning, even if it does me no good to do so. It just seems, to quote you again, "They've apparently been scratching their heads in befuddlement around WDI for decades, now, wondering why the HM Imagineers created a fantasy world and then didn't bother to put any stories in it.  It's all stage and no actors! Well, we can make good that defect.  We've got lots of good story ideas.... It doesn't occur to them that they've got the basic concept of the ride completely wrong.  The rider is the only 'actor' in this 'story.'" Meh, this is making my head hurt. It is not as if I disagree with the basic concept of Connie it's just how they went about the details of the story, the context/fit, and the execution of the idea. They (WDI) could have done better, made, "a better Constance." Their work on the current version of Lincoln at DL is testimony to this fact. What we got in Connie may work well enough but perhaps not good enough. It's not great. In hinesight the bride has always been a troubled fit though. Ultimately however I still don't think they can really control all interpretations anyway or stop all comfusion but it does not matter. The rules are the rules, "there is no recourse." Here's hoping for the next generation of WDI to finally get it. So when is your next blog entry? Wink
