I too live in the Houston area and worked at Astroworld as a teenager. I have so many fond memories of the park but I can't begin to tell you how they let that park go. It became quite obvious that they put ALL their money in roller coaters at the expense of everything else. The flower beds were dirt, it didn't look like a gallon of paint had been bought in years and the employees surely didn't care about you. Don't get me wrong I love roller coasters but when you take your six year old child and all that is left is rollercoaster's and kiddy rides which I swear looked like the were built in the 40s you have to ask yourself why you just dropped so much money. This is where Six Flag has failed and Disney get's it right, successful theme parks are built on families, it's about shared experiences. It's why the HM has such a following, it's certainly not a scary thrill ride but everybody can share it together. That's why families come back over and over, because we all want to share the magic together.
