I enjoy going to Disneyland and the WDW MK equally, because each park has its advantages and disadvantages, and rides like Big Thunder, Splash Mountain, and The Haunted Mansion are not exact clones of one another.

I have mixed feelings about this news about the Sinister 11 being replaced with the morphing portraits from DL's mansion. On one hand, the recessed eyes are a simple effect and one that is easy to figure out, and many of the figures in these portraits SCREAM 1970s. On the other hand, who doesn't remember cartoons set in haunted houses that have paintings that watch you as you pass? They are so quintessentially "haunted house" that I love them.

I just don't like the idea of the WDW mansion getting the DL bride, DL floating Leota ball, and DL morphing portraits. DL already got WDW's Master Gracey portrait.

I suppose one thing that bugs me about this new change is that in the WDW foyer, you have a very complex morphing portrait with several stages, which is very impressive. Then, later in the ride you are going to see yet more morphing portraits that are an even simpler effect. I have a feeling people are going to have a, "been there, seen that" reaction, or at least I know I would.

If I were in charge of a WDW HM rehab, aside from the obvious technical improvements such as new audio and lighting, I'd focus on adding effects to the library (such as the book with the turning pages), doing something with the jerky piano player in the music room, filling the black void between the music room and the upstairs hallway, and replacing the animatronics with smoother versions of the same characters. I want to see a spruced-up version of the mansion we all know and love, not a clone of the DL mansion.
