Tokyo DisneySea

The day after going to Tokyo Disneyland we went to adjoining park, Tokyo DisneySea. As you can tell by the name, much of the theme park revolved around things in and about of water. Upon entering the park you are taken aback by a great interpretation of what a coastal Italian town looks like. Across the water you'll see a medievil castle being dwarfed by an ominous looking volcano. Every hour, on the hour, the volcano would "erupt" with a few HUGE fireballs shooting into the sky (this was even more impressive when the sun went down). As with the other parks, there are various "lands" in DisneySea. We attempted to explore as many as we could in the time that we were there.

This park seemed to have the most unique themed rides that we'd come across at any of the other Disney parks (including Disneyland Paris). It's nice to see that they are just not rehashing the same tride-and-true attractions. Of course, they DID have some of standard rides such as Indiana Jones (which was a little odd to see in the "Sea" park and not in the standard TDL park). At least they gave Indy something cool to search for... a crystal skull!

We didn't really see much to offer in the Arabian section other than the single Sinbad ride. Not sure if more is planned for that area or not. A great little place was the underground Ariel's Grotto. Lots of cute rides and a couple of shows. If you see the pic we have inside the Ariel show is a little blurry it's because as I was taking it I found out (from someone in broken english) that photography wasn't allowed in the show. Ooops! Stupid Americans!

Tabby even ran into a character that we've yet to see at any of the other parks...

There were a couple of shows that they did in the water on the main lagoon in the park. It was pretty amazing with all of the boats and waverunners racing back and forth that no one ran into each other. They had characters on ships battle it out in the harbor.

We went over to the area with the medievil castle after the show and wandered through all of the "hidden" rooms and areas. They have a lot of great hands-on things that you'd see in science museums. One of the cool things to check out was this room that was a baroque painting that was painted continously across all of the angles in the room. When you looked through a huge polished concave glass at the center of the room it was as if you were looking at a single painting. It's hard to describe, let alone photograph. Yer just gonna have to go check it out for yourself.

As the sun went down we went over to the turn-of-the-century New York docks area to see a Mickey and Minnie Christmas show (yup, it being November, it was all about xmas decorations around the park). It was a little odd to see it being celebrated in another country (in the New York themed area) with everyone dancing to old American show tunes - kinda surreal.

And even cooler... the actually had characters ice skating!
As we were leaving the park we stumbled upon this restaraunt (note the heads hanging down)...
