Welcome, Foolish Mortals!
This message explains a little bit about how this bulletin board is formatted, and how it works.
To keep DoomBuggies.com posts sorted out, the moderators are authorized to move topics that are in the wrong forums into the proper forums. The moderators will also be deleting posts that are clearly meant to be temporary, such as those that say "test," or "Hey Jeff, you've got mail," etc. The typical message board user is online and can check their email simultaneously, so such posts are typically unnecessary. Before you commit a post, you can preview it with the small preview button below the message window, which makes "test" posts unnecessary.
This should actually improve the conversation, since the forums tend to be more focused with less traffic, which means messages will remain visible for conversation longer than they do on boards crowded with off-topic posts.
We do not intend to edit or delete posts in a manner that infringes upon on-topic conversation. But some policing of this kind helps to keep the board clear, fun to use, and engaging to new users.
Here's a board tip: to quickly change forums, all you need to do is go to the bottom right hand of the screen, and use the pull-down menu. It will instantly transport you to other sections of the board.
A tip for making the "NEW" button go away:
Go to the main board (where all the forum names are listed) and click the link at the top of the page that says "Mark ALL forums read." This will remove all of the "NEW" tags.
Next time you log in or hit "reload," anything that's been posted or edited will have the "NEW" tag next to the forum name. Within that forum, only the new or edited posts will display the tag. Once you've read all the new threads, while you are still in that forum, click the "Mark Forum Read" link at the top of the page. That will remove the tag from that forum only and return you to the main board. The other forums will display the tag if there have been new entries. If not, there will be nothing on the left of the forum's title.
Also, note that using the "Search" link at the top of each individual forum searches within that forum only and NOT the entire board.
