While it used the movie's sets, it styled them in a way simlilar to the ride, and they used many more references to the ride. I ultimately felt more satisfied with the game than with the movie, although both were fairly weak. What do you guys think?

I don't know if this is right, but I liked the Haunted Mansion Video Game. It was released at the same time as the film, but it had a unique plot to it.
The idea was that you played the assistant caretaker and helped the ghosts get rid of an evil spirit.

Its a very well made game. I've beaten it on every difficulty multiple times. It's an AMAZINGLY well written story with good voice acting, a nice
difficulty ranging from simple to ludicrous, the graphics for when it came out were great, the balance between comedy and "horror"..... It's just
really really fun. I really wanna play it again.

I like the video game better than the movie, too. Unfortunately, my copy of the game vanished before I finished it, so I never saw the ending...
Not that I was all that crazy about the storyline (it kinda bugged me that the new OC's were the focus of the game, when I really wanted it to be about the ghosts) . But, hey, overall it was pretty fun. |

I enjoyed the game. Good fun. I wish they had left out the "banshee" which resembled the ghost from "Ringu" a bit too closely, but other
than that, it was cool. It cracks me up, because they can't develop a decent enough POTC game to save their lives. (If anyone finds one that doesn't
have you button-mash through one zombie-ghost-pirate after another, please let me know!)
As I said in another thread, the game's storyline would've made a better film script than the one we got. But still, I beg the question....these souls never gave me the impression of needing to be saved. They are "happy " haunts, correct? The Ghost Host informs us that "they find it quite liveable here". Why the need to "un-haunt" the Haunted Mansion?? All you're left with is "Disney's Mansion", and that would be one attraction I'd no longer visit. W. |

actually, legend of jack sparrow isnt that bad. Your not unhaunting the mansion, your ridding the mansion of a person stealing the soul-essence basically
(Thaddeas Thorn i believe). The ghosts become happy haunts.

I'm still looking for a copy in the bargain bins and ebay. I was just so anti-HMMovie hype at the time that I missed this gem
