Yep, I'm back! Forgive me for my abscence, but I had other obsessions and graduation from high school to get through! I am now officially 18!
Anyhoo, here's something to think about....
In the introduction to "More Ghost Stories," Aidan Chambers explains that there are two kinds of ghost stories: Sensational and Psychological.
Sensational has ghosts that you can see, hear and touch. You can see these ghosts in the flesh, so to speak. Most ghost movies are like this. Our beloved Mansion is pure Sensational, and even has references to some of the best sensationals in the business, like The Haunting.
Psychological has ghosts you cannot see, but they invade the mind. The Blair Witch Project is a famous example. Is it real? Is it not? Just wait and find out! Also, it can be argued that if you go to the Mansion for the first time, the "Ghost Will Follow You Home" schtick will be pure psychological, but only if you're a Boogeyman-fearing child. (Sorry, just my two cents.)
Comments? Thoughts? A good ol' "Welcome Back?" Keep in mind that the two genres are sometimes combined!
