Others will correct me, but the old top tier with dinner in the Mansion was about $2000. Since we know the price of the third tier ($250), I'd guess that the first and second tiers will be around $750 to $1000 since the only difference is the hotel you stay in (Grand Californian is about $100 more) and the top tier gift. I think that instead of lamenting what isn't there, we look at what they have planned and it seems like a fun day's worth. As far as merchandise, they typically have images of something (early art, prototypes, or photos of some finished pieces) online before the registration. I think that Mansion fans are slightly more rabid, and this is the first Mansion event held in Disneyland in many years. I don't think they'll have a problem selling the very limited top tier packages. Considering the economy, the lower packages might be more problematic, but the least expensive package at $85 still gives enough events, and access to the merchandise, that it seems priced to move. I think they are taking the current collapsing economy into account here and pricing the packages accordingly. I wouldn't be surprised to see less merchandise offered as well. When I read the event info, three questions leapt from their crypts. 1. Can we prevail on Disney to modify the rules just a little? It appears that everything related to the package has to apply precisely to 09/09/2009. That seems to include hotel reservations. If my wife and I both manage to register as Grinning Ghosts or Foolish Mortals, does Disney expect us to stay in separate rooms (or maybe pay for both whether we use them or not ;-)? With previous Mansion events in WDW, we could have stacked our rooms and stayed for two consecutive nights, a good idea. I hope someone can raise the issue with Disney. Any volunteers with clout? 2. When will we know the prices for the upper tiers? The info will help a lot with making decisions and making plans. 3. How many graves will be available for each tier? When will we know? This is stated quite clearly: "*Standard accommodations one person per room. Includes room rate and tax only. Couples purchasing the Grinning Ghosts event package will be offered a second night hotel accommodation (consecutive to the first night 9/9/09 only) in a standard room/double occupancy at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel® & Spa (or another Resort hotel as determined by Disney) in lieu of two rooms for one night. Subject to availability."

Does anyone know if this event will be held during the traditional HM or the HMH? I would think that it would be the traditional mansion. Seeing how HMH, has not been in existance for 40 years. I am very excited about this event too. I only hope that I will be able to time myself as I will need to, so as to be able to attend. Am looking forward to seeing all of the artwork. I have seen some of it so far, but again, not all of it.
