On February 12th, about 2 days before the refurb was scheduled to finish, the Haunted Mansion finally opened it's creaky doors again. However and sadly no: HBG, Stretching Room Binaural, and Leota was not floating! Only a few coats of paint and some lighting changes with a supposed new security system. Oh Well, we'll have to wait until August...

Turst me, the binaural sound is highly overrated...the last few tiems Ive gone to WDW, the volume is pretty, low and youc ant truly appreaciate it...plus i
honestly, it doesnt even sound like the ghost host hovering around you, i justsounds like alot of speakers randomly going up and down in volume...I much
prefered the original 4 speakers that alternated, like you still have at DL

Went to Anaheim HM today and Leota is back to her floating self, Ambrose06. Good to see ol' Leota getting around again! The only other thing that stood out
was the piano ghost in the attic was VERY brightly lit! The light practically lit up the whole corner of the attic. As I expected, the Saturday line opening
weekend was quite long, (it snaked out of the HM gates and up around the fountain area) but the wait wasn't too bad. At least the rain never arrived and
the weather was just beautiful! Merchandise wise, the only new item I hadn't noticed before was a tidbit dish set for peanuts or what have you with 3
dishes-3 designs, one for each dish. I think they are made of porcelian material. HM is one. Matterhorn, and I think a retro Disneyland design. They come in
either separated dishes or connected. 2 different purchases. These dishes seemed to only be at World of Disney in Downtown Disney unless I missed them
somewhere in the park.

Hm, I wonder why the piano ghost was so brightly lit up? Perhaps he is having a hard time seeing his notes? 
It is good to hear that Madame Leota is back into the swing of things.
The appetizer plates sound nice, do we have pictures somewhere? Am glad that the weather had cooperated for you.  In a way, it is good to know that there had been a long line for Master Gracey's guests.

Guy the Ghoul mentioned that the attic was bright the day he was there. Well, along those lines, I went on the Mansion (in Anaheim) tonight and noticed that
for some reason, you could briefly see the wires keeping Leota "airborne." Almost as easily as you can see the chains they use to suspend the
"man-eating wreath's" arms during the Holdiay version. Maybe I just happened to see them at an angle where they caught the light, but I don't
recall seeing them that clearly before.
As for those dishes, I haven't seen/looked for them, but I would guess they might have them in one of the stores on Main Street. I forget exactly which, but it's on the east side of the street (to the right if you're looking at the castle from the Train Station). If I remember correctly... A few years ago, maybe during the 50th Anniversary, they had plates/cups at that store that were pretty similar to what it sounds like Guy described. |

Oh, the strings are quite visible at almost any angle in the seance room. It's dreadfully tacky. I was reminded of this while passing through it yesterday.
