Not everyone is entitled to buy collectibles--you have to have the money, and you have to be in the right place at the right time.
The point of having a merchandise event is (used to be, and should still be) to allow those who are fortunate enough to register to be able to participate in a Random Drawing to purchase limited edition merchandise. If the stuff isn't limited, they would sell far less of it since unlimited items often lose their value. Limited edition items often increase in value precisely because not everyone can have them.
The collectible world is not a democracy--it's a microcosm of capitalism.
