Mrs. Halfbeard and I just returned from our first trip together to Disneyland without the kids for our anniversary. It was my first time on the authentic
non-holiday-overlay-mansion in 6 years and we started off the trip with the mansion and ended with it as well, totaling 10 times riding for our trip. Here are
a few compliments and complaints I brought back with me:
1.) The stretching paintings, long time favorites of mine, had many creases in them as they expanded.
2.) 'Twas my first time seeing the lightening changing portraits effect and I really like it! Very creepy. The nonscary paintings were a little too dark to see well though.
3.) Ahh, the demon wallpaper...
4.) Madame Leota was not floating as I had hoped she would be. Is it just the lighting or is her orb shaped like an egg?
5.) Noticed a few new things about the ballroom scene: in the stream of ghosts coming in through the broken down door on the right side, there is a pirate ghost who comes through! Also, who is the ghost who sits on the top of the fireplace? I didn't get a good look at him.
6.) In the attic, I noticed the thump thump of the old bride's heart seems to be linked to the red orb-shaped lamp in the beginning of the scene. Or is it just coincidence?
7.) I was very impressed with the piano playing shadow - He was very cool.
8.) Constance - I think they are striving for something that is very cool, but not quite worked out yet. Her body is so smooth and hour glass shaped that her moving arms don't quite come off convincing. She does have some great lines though.
Everything else was as remembered and enjoyed. Hope you all enjoy the 40th and say "Hi" to the Hatbox for me if you see him.
