Obviously Didn't Turn Back
HexMe wrote:I'm going with what you say CT, cause there is just no excuse for Imagineering creating a decidedly flat-faced Constance and expecting us to accept it any other way.Can someone please tell me though WHY there is a cake in the attic? Was there some sort of Victorian tradition that I'm unaware of where there was a cake MODEL or SCULPTURE presented at weddings, along with an edible cake? Or was there some sort of Victorian practice of not letting anyone eat it, and preserving the cake? Did I miss some of the storyline as in...Connie's ecto-mojo is somehow keeping the cake fresh for the next wedding? If not, I have to ask...what servant would think it's a good idea to dispose of a cake in the attic, what in the world were cakes made of back then that the thing hasn't melted, and why isn't it growing fur by now? But seriously, when Imagineers were sitting discussing their plans for the attic overhaul, and they were throwing out ideas for different wedding paraphernailia to have lying around, WHO said to put the ruddy cake in the attic?

My guess is beecause of Connie's diabolical nature the wedding cake was devils food cake, made with real devils.

Foolish Mortal
Johnny,Of course, you are right. But. As apathetic as it may sound... what else can we expect? These are NOT the original Imagineers... these are the up-and-coming generation who were not inspired by the same source material that X, Marc Davis and the rest enjoyed. The current generation have been inspired by the current generation. The watering-down effect, (sadly) I think, has to be expected. It's the same all over. Movies, TV, books... with rare exception it is all dumbed down to the point of being intolerable (to some of us). Overall, however, the population eats it up... because they too are suffering from the trickle-down lack-of-quality culture that we are now a part of (like it or not).But... that is the world we live in. I think it's understandable that the current gen of Imagineers are catering to the masses. They DO need things explained to them. And they need people to buy admission tickets.I think your anger and frustration are valid tho. I feel them too. Luckily, there are some things in life that are never going to be tampered with (the writings of Lovecraft, is an example). They will always be true and no one is going to come along and alter them. The Mansion... it's just never going to be that way. Everyone has their own opinion of Walt's infamous words about "Disneyland never being finished"... etc. And now we are seeing what happens when different people get their turn at bat with Walt's babies. That being said... I like the idea of Constance. Just wish she was implemented better. That's my rant for today. Pointless interjection, perhaps. But I do feel your pain.

Hitchhiking Ghost
If Constance appears as a young woman ghost, why do we see her as an older woman in the stretching portrait?
The notion that ghosts appear as they appeared at the time of their death is not the only popular notion out there. There is also the idea that ghosts haunt because there is unfinished earthly business that must be resolved before they can "cross over," and perhaps they appear as they appeared at the time of that unfinished business, which may have occurred well before death. In Connie's case, it's an unavenged murder spree from her youth.

I can't think of a single good reason to identify the lady holding the rose with the bride in the attic. This whole idea of attempting to create a story for the HM, is as lame as the addition of characters from the POTC movies, to the POTC attraction.
