First of all, I'd like to say thanks to this wesbite, and its contents. It was a major motivation in rekindling my enthusiasm for thematic design, and acting as a major push to finally finishing this project. That being said, nothing is ever really finished.
I thought I would share with everyone that's interested, a little bit of a case study that I had been working on over the last year, when not bogged down in work and other obligations. I have recently become very interested in the 'moments' that architecture and space can create for a person, that radically shifts their perception of reality. Ultimately these shifts don't last, and a person disembarks back to their everyday, but that's half the fun; being able to come back to these moments again and again.
Attractions at theme parks are great examples of this. Say like, a haunted attraction. I'll try not to bore you with too many details, but here are some images of a 1:12 physical model that I constructed in order to better understand the creative process in bringing these spaces to life. The images are a little bright, still working on adjusting the camera settings. I'm sure you'll be able to catch the inspiration(s). I hope to add more pieces to this someday.
My apologies if the images look too green. I've found this to be the case on certain monitors. Also, I can assure the candelabra does not shine that brightly in real life, I think the aperture was set too high on the camera. Still adjusting...

The illusion shown here works fairly similar to the way it does in the attraction.

And here are a couple of pages from the write-up I did for a portfolio I'm creating.

So I hope you enjoy it. I certainly had a good time creating this little world.
